Gabrielle (Gabby) Newcomb is a second-year M.A. student in the Applied Developmental Psychology Program, working under Dr. Olga Kornienko in the Peer Networks & Development lab. She earned her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Spring 2021. Before pursuing graduate studies, Gabby worked as an in-home Applied Behavior Analysis provider for pre-K and elementary school-aged children. Her research interests focus on adverse childhood experiences, childhood trauma/chronic stress, and their associated negative health outcomes. Gabby is particularly interested in how positive peer and familial relationships can act as protective factors against these outcomes. Gabby aims to implement intervention/prevention programs that help mitigate negative developmental trajectories for at-risk youth. Passionate about enhancing advocacy and equity in childhood well-being, she aspires to be a lifelong learner and contribute meaningful work to her community.
