Van (she/her) is a first-year M.A. student in the Applied Developmental Psychology program under the mentorship of Dr. Olga Kornienko. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Fall 2023. She has experience working with adolescents living in affordable housing as well as being a Pre-K Teacher Assistant. These experiences have been a driving force for her to continue her education in developmental psychology. Van is passionate about understanding how familial and societal networks influence diverse adolescents’ mental health, specifically the impacts of generational trauma and resilience on children of immigrants. She wishes to work with adolescents enduring adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and to promote mental health awareness.
